The Werner Family
You guys. This family is so stinkin’ cute, it hurts. I met these cuties while dating a guy a couple years back. He and I were both struggling with our jobs and I was looking for a change. He had mentioned to me that his sister was looking for someone to watch her kids throughout the week so she could go back to teaching. So… Brynn (at the time 2m old), Brody (3) and I spent the next year together. I had nannied for years, so playing Mom was no challenge for me, but TWO little ones was def a big change for my day-to-day routine. I’ll tell you what, it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with these kids. Being a part of this family was so much fun, and really gave me a whole new perspective on wanting and having a family of my own. Spending my days in their home was a wonderful thing during a really hard time in my life. Whether it was relentless dirty diapers, swimming lessons, food fights, tantrums & meltdowns, or late morning naps on each other, I grew so much everyday learning with and loving them.
After my relationship with their uncle ended, I had a new work opportunity present itself to me. Shortly after that I stopped watching them. It was hard because not only was I losing a boyfriend & dear friend, but I was losing this family. I had grown to appreciate waking up early, rolling around outside in the grass, and getting excited about quesadillas before 11am. I missed the feeling of being needed. I missed how much more meaningful life was. And most importantly I missed the impact that these two made on my life. A couple months later, right around Thanksgiving, their momma reached out and asked me to take their family Christmas picture. And now… I take it every year. I guess you could say I refuse to let them have anyone else take it. I can’t believe how big they are and how quickly the time goes. Glad I still get to spend time with them & capture these faces.
